Having multistate privileges as part of the NLC changes all of this and can be valuable for faculty. For faculty whose states aren’t in the NLC, contact your legislators and let your voices be heard. Legislators take personal messages from their constituents very seriously, especially when kept factual and succinct. Of the 26 original NLC states, all but one has implemented the current NLC, which was updated and enhanced in 2015 to encourage more states to join. The sole original NLC state that has not implemented the current NLC is Rhode Island. Therefore, Rhode Island is no longer part of the NLC.

There's a lot of literature on professional ethics and standards, but it's not integrated with the rest. It's specialists in that area. Or we find that this is more from the medical schools, it was very astounding to find that by half of the medical schools which were surveyed, about 26 medical schools which were surveyed in the United States, and of course, everyone's required to take our medical ethics course, but only half required it as part of the requirements to pass the medical degree. ©2018 National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc.

Of the top states with the most bill filings, which were Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, Oklahoma, and Texas, each had over 10,000 bills filed. And that trend for the number of bills is going to most likely continue to grow. And however, some legislatures are taking action to limit the number of bills. For example, California has a new rule for the 25 and 26 session, that senators can only file 35 bills total, which is down from 40, and assembly members can also only file 35 bills in total, which is down from 50. So I don't think that'll stop them from trying to hit that number. So when we track across the country, our goal is to find bills and issues that will impact nursing regulation and reveal trends in healthcare policy and occupational licensure.

In 2020, NCSBN launched a research study to investigate the effect of rapid changes made in nursing education programs in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The “National Prelicensure RN Study: Assessing the Impact of COVID-19 on Nursing Education” is currently underway at 55 nursing education sites across 26 U.S. states. The study seeks to determine the extent to which programs changed their instructional formats due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The study will then prospectively and longitudinally track over 700 prelicensure nursing students and 450 faculty to measure engagement, academic performance and early career experience.

. • are also being used in a documentary analysis of nurse practice acts, rules and regulations for collaborative practice agreements for four types of advanced practice registered nurses (nurse practitioners, certified nurse midwives, certified registered nurse anesthetists, clinical nurse specialists) in 26 states. With fiscal year 2016 upon us, the 2014–16 Research Agenda still has topic areas to explore. Anticipated areas of study from the agenda include discipline and substance use disorder, such as the use and effectiveness of remediation, and outcomes for discipline programs as compared to alternative to discipline programs (ADP), and differences in efficacy and recidivism of ADP.

Michelle, do you want to take this one? >> Things, sure. The new curriculum that will, as of '25 men '26, it is preparing the nurse practitioner for general practice in all practice settings. Even though the family all ages curriculum, you know, is very similar, will be very aligned with the new curriculum, there will need to be some adjustments by the faculties or schools of nursing to give experiences in these different areas.

How can you create a template then when I'm talking about regulation X? This here is what we're going to go in and we're going to look as Y. This is going to be the evidence that you're going to be assessed on, whether or not you're in compliance. When you look at the tools, first of all, the school gets what we're going to be looking at, surveys. So the initial one-day prep, we talk about the documents, let's say, under faculty, we actually give the schools examples of the questions that we're going to be asking faculty.
