The computer then selects an easier question for the next round. This adaptive process carries on throughout the exam, similar to how someone might keep adjusting the weights on the scale to figure out an object's precise weight. This is a graphical representation of adaptive algorithms. The y-axis on this graph represents the scale used for both item difficulty and the candidate ability. Larger numbers indicate more difficult questions or higher ability, while smaller numbers represent easier questions or lower ability. The x-axis shows the number of operational questions.
